John Wilkes and the Middlesex Election

I am grateful to Mr David Tanner, in "sunny California" for sending me a scan of this document which he found in a first edition of Sommers' Tracts (1748). The original illustration measures 5" by 9" (12.7 cm by 22.9 cm -ish). Mr Tanner says, "While going through the book I found the poster. I did a bit of research and through the bookplate found that the owner of the book, J. Cornock, was a sheep farmer and the sheriffof Middlesex. I found a small piece of carded wool in the book as well as many candle drippings. I have been unable to trace its history and would appreciate any information about it".

I, too, would appreciate any information about the poster.
