John Arthur Roebuck, MP for Sheffield, tabled a motion of "No Confidence" in Aberdeen's government, in protest at the conduct of the Crimean War. The motion was carried and Aberdeen resigned. Lord John Russell and the Earl of Derby both failed to form a ministry and Palmerston was called. He formed a government and brought the war to an end in 1856.
