The coalition government under the Earl of Aberdeen comprised Whigs, Conservatives and Radicals. It included Lord John Russell as Foreign Secretary, Lord Palmerston as Home Secretary and William Gladstone as Chancellor of the Exchequer. This was the government which allowed Britain to drift in to the Crimean War.
